Use only DOT 3 (Honda 08798-9008) or a DOT 3 that meets Honda spec. Do not “upgrade” to DOT 5 silicone. DOT 4 is chemically compatible but not what Honda filled; stick with DOT 3 for this van.

Why it matters
DOT 3 is hygroscopic. After three years the fluid in the ABS block and calipers is wet enough to fade on a long downhill.
Shop notes
The reservoir is on the driver side of the firewall. Level sits between MIN and MAX.
A fluid exchange (pressure or vacuum bleed) is the maintenance item — not a pad job.
Dark fluid in the reservoir is overdue, even if the Minder has not popped.
