Automatic Transmission Fluid
Drain-and-fill only with Honda ATF DW-1. The 5-speed is durable when the fluid is kept fresh and ruined by the wrong ATF.

3.3 US qt / 3.1 L per drain-and-fill
This is a drain-and-fill, not a flush. Measure what comes out and put the same volume back. Check level on the ATF dipstick at operating temperature, engine idling, in Park, on level ground. Total system capacity is about 7.6 qt — a single drain does not empty the torque converter.

Why it matters
Honda 5ATs use a specific friction package. Generic ATF or “multi-vehicle” fluid causes shudder and clutch wear.
Shop notes
Never use Dexron, Mercon, or “universal” ATF.
A series of three drain-and-fills over a few hundred miles refreshes more of the system than one flush.
Pink/red and slightly sweet is healthy. Dark brown or burnt smell means schedule the service now.
